Full STEAM Ahead: A Year of Creativity and Innovation at Spalding Drive ElementaryThis year, Sandy Springs Education Force’s STEAM Legacy Grant supported Spalding Drive’s Agriculture, Art, Engineering and Entrepreneurship Clubs. They will proudly showcase the incredible products and projects students created under the guidance of Ms. Wilkinson at our STEAM Showcase.
As part of the Full STEAM Ahead after-school program, students explored hands-on learning experiences across multiple disciplines. In the Engineering Club, students applied the design process to solve real-world challenges. The Entrepreneur Club introduced students to financial literacy, guiding them through the process of designing, developing and marketing their own products. The Photography Club provided fourth and fifth graders an introduction to digital photography, including shooting and basic editing techniques. Some of their best work will be featured in the SDE 2024-25 yearbook. In the Agriculture Club, students established a school garden, cultivated crops and gained a deeper understanding of environmental conservation and sustainable farming practices.
Families played an essential role in the learning experience. Parents are invited to join students at the STEAM Showcase, where students will present their projects, practice public speaking skills and receive feedback on their work. Many parents also volunteered during club meetings, enhancing the collaborative spirit of the program.Additionally, Spalding Drive continued its STEAM Day, expanding partnerships with local businesses and organizations to provide even more enriching experiences for students.
It was an exciting year of growth, creativity and discovery.
SSEF STEAM Showcase: March 5th, 6-8 pm
Spalding Drive Elementary students will be featured at Sandy Springs Education Force’s 15th Annual STEAM Showcase on March 5th, 6-8 PM at North Springs High School. Attendees can explore student-led projects and also interact with humanoid robots, test flight simulators and experience AI training simulations.
