SANDY SPRINGS, GA – Sandy Springs Education Force, the city’s leading public education-focused nonprofit organization, congratulates the Riverwood International Charter High School students who took part in this year’s Seniors Achieving in Life (SAIL) program.
The class of 2016 had 24 participants in the program, which is a rewarding and effective program that pairs adult volunteers with high school seniors who need assistance navigating the post-secondary application process. Volunteers met on a weekly basis with their assigned students during their lunch period to research and explore post graduate opportunities, complete applications and to apply for scholarships.
Historically, each year, 80 percent of SAIL participants will attend a post-secondary institution. Many of these students are the first to graduate high school in their families, let alone go on to a future degree program, SSEF said.
SAIL is funded by the Sandy Springs Education Force and collaborates with the Riverwood’s College & Career Counseling Center headed by Roxie Garber. Financial support from SSEF covers student expenses such as application and transcript fees. SSEF also sponsors an annual breakfast reception to congratulate the students and thank the adult volunteers.
The Sandy Springs Education Foundation is an organization dedicated to inspiring and supporting all Sandy Springs public school students to graduate and pursue productive lives beyond high school by providing educational and enrichment programs through community collaboratives.
