SAIL and Senior Push volunteers help high school seniors who may be the first in their families to pursue college or technical degrees.
As volunteer Beppie Lever explains, “Many of the students just need to know there is another adult rooting for them. We help make the application process accessible to them.”
Wouldn’t you love to be that adult rooting for a graduating senior? Volunteers receive training and support so they can work individually with students to enable them to identify colleges, technical schools, specialized training programs and apprenticeships that will be a good fit. They also help students find and apply for scholarships.
Volunteers meet with one to two students each week for about 45 minutes at a mutually agreed upon time at school, usually starting in November. (Virtual meetings can work, too.) Programs conclude in April.
