Sandy Springs has excellent public schools as attested to the many awards received by all of the schools throughout the years. The schools are arranged in two clusters such that the elementary and middle schools feed into the high schools. There are a total of eleven public schools in Sandy Springs with over 11,000 students: 7 Elementary Schools, 2 Middle Schools and 2 High Schools.
The North Springs Cluster of schools is headed by North Springs High School, which is a Dual Arts and Science Magnet School specializing in Math and Science and Visual and Performing Arts. NSCHS offers a challenging college preparatory program including 22 Advanced Placement courses. North Springs has received many awards including Georgia School of Excellence, Newsweek Magazine Top 500 Schools, U.S. News Outstanding School and Grammy Signature School.
The Riverwood Cluster is headed by Riverwood International Charter School, which offers both the International Studies Magnet and International Baccalaureate Programs. The International Studies Program is a challenging four year curriculum that focuses on world issues, global economics, cultural awareness and field experiences. The International Baccalaureate Program is recognized around the world for its high academic, service and examination requirements. Approximately 90% of the students at this prestigious college prep institution go on to colleges and universities and rank among the highest achievers in the nation on the SAT and ACT.
The high schools are able to sustain their record of excellence due to the rigorous curriculum offered in the elementary and middle school preparing the students for high school.
