SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The Sandy Springs Education Force recently presented its 6th Annual STE(A)M Showcase, and the event turned out to be as popular as ever.
Held Feb. 24 at North Springs Charter High School, this year’s showcase featured interactive exhibits ranging from 3-D printers to virtual reality goggles where Sandy Springs students and citizens explored the fast-changing worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and — new for 2016 – the Arts.
This year’s event also featured hands-on demonstrations from 27 diverse, STE(A)M-focused exhibitors, including The Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Botanical Garden, AT&T, Museum of Design Atlanta, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State University, Mercer University and replantable.

Eight of SSEF’s 2015 STEM grant recipient schools also exhibited. The Showcase broke previous attendance numbers: it was viewed by more than 1,000 students during the day, and over 500 community members in the evening.
Sponsorships nearly doubled from last year, which will enable SSEF to offer STE(A)M grants to all 11 Sandy Springs public schools next year.
The popular annual event is part of SSEF’s multi-faceted outreach program designed to challenge, inspire and support Sandy Springs public school students’ pursuit of STEM education and careers.
In 2014 and 2015, SSEF’s showcase was awarded first place an unprecedented two years in a row at the annual STEM Education Awards of Georgia, sponsored by the Technology Association of Georgia and the TAG Education Collaborative.
